Assessment and Evaluation

The primary purpose of assessment and evaluation is to improve student learning. It’s a shared partnership among staff, students, and parents. Regular attendance of students to classes; ongoing communication between school and home; and support for the student’s learning activities are important.

As students explore personal interests and pathways to success, they work towards key exit outcomes, developing skills and habits that will help them be productive, successful citizens.

Report cards for elementary students give a summary of student achievement. In Kindergarten, report cards use anecdotal comments. Starting in Grade 1, letter grades are used. A Progress Report is sent home midway through the first term. These progress reports are an ideal starting point for discussion at parent/teacher interviews.
