Indigenous Education Advisory Council (IEAC) Policy Consultation

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board will be implementing a new policy to create an Indigenous Education Advisory Council (IEAC) beginning in the Fall of 2018. This Council will support the District with advice and input on the Indigenous Education Board Action Plan; provide strategic advice on implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action; assist the Board of Trustees in its commitment to provide an equitable and inclusive education and work environment for Indigenous students and staff; and advise the Board of Trustees on any issue affecting Indigenous students' learning and well-being.

In order to best serve the Indigenous community, we would like your thoughts about some of the implementation issues for the new policy. Specifically, decisions need to be made about:

  • The composition of the Indigenous Education Advisory Council.

We have prepared some background information, which you can access from the links below. We will be holding two open houses where the issues will be discussed in more detail:

Monday, May 14th at 6:00 p.m.
Confederation Education Centre
1645 Woodroffe Avenue

Tuesday, May 22nd at 6:00 p.m.
Gloucester High School
2060 Ogilvie Road

The consultation period runs until May 25, 2018.
