REACH AHEAD INFORMATION

In-Class Summer School Dates: Wednesday, July 3 – Thursday, July 25, 2019

The Reach Ahead program provides an opportunity for students to supplement and enrich their High School Education by acquiring a credit in July. Students who passed but want to upgrade their mark may choose to repeat a course in the Reach Ahead program.

IMPORTANT: To be eligible for a credit, students are required to attend the full summer school session and complete a summative evaluation as scheduled. Please plan vacation and other events outside of the summer school dates.

REGISTRATION DATES

Reach Ahead Courses: Monday, April 8 to Thursday, June 27, 2019

  • OCDSB students must register through their day school Guidance Counselor via PRISM (OeLC registration website). For more information, please contact the Guidance Counselor at your day school.
  • Non-OCDSB day school students can pick up the summer school registration form from their Guidance Counselor. Registration forms must be approved and signed by the Principal or Guidance Counselor of Non-OCDSB day school students.

    NOTE: To avoid registration issues the following documents MUST be provided with the registration form:

    • a recent Student Status Sheet Credit Counselling Summary
    • a recent Index Card printed from the student database at your school
  • Adult Students not in a day school must register for Summer School through the Continuing

Education Advisor between April 8 and June 27, 2019. Please call 613-239-2620 to make an appointment.

Registration Form Drop-off Information

For Non-OCDSB and Adult students, the OCDSB Continuing Education Registration office is located at 440 Albert Street in Room E122B and will be open as follows:

Dates: Monday to Friday from Monday, April 8 to Thursday, June 27, 2019

Times: 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Note: On Tuesdays from May 7 to June 26, the registration office will be open until 7:00pm


Information about Fees and Transportation

Textbook Fees: There is no Textbook Deposit Fee for students currently attending a day school. If a student fails to return the book or returns the book in poor condition, the student will be billed directly the full cost of the textbook. For Adult students there is a refundable $80.00 textbook fee payable by cash or post-dated cheque dated July 25, 2019 (made out to the OCDSB).

International Student Fees: A fee is required for all international and out-of-province students. The fee for a Summer School reach-ahead course is $500 payable by cash or cheque (made out to the OCDSB).

TRANSPORTATION: Students taking Reach Ahead High School Credit courses are not eligible for transportation. Dependent on enrollment in these programs, Continuing Education is sometimes able to allow students taking secondary credit courses to access the yellow school bus service. The yellow school bus schedule will be available by mid-June at: www.summerschoolinottawa.com
