Today, the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) shared an important update for OCDSB families. Due to severe driver shortages, some yellow bus routes will be cancelled for OCDSB students, starting Sept. 14th. In addition, the agency also noted that some grade 7-12 students have been transitioned to public transit.

In celebrating Capital Pride, Youth Ottawa and the OCDSB wanted to share a video showcasing 2SLGTBQ student voices. The video is a reel of student films from the Rainbow Bridges Project. This was an experiential, for-youth-by-youth project where high school students involved with the school’s GSA (gay-straight alliance or gender and sexuality alliance) worked together to innovate new ways of creating safer schools.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board has been advised by the Ottawa Police Service that charges have been laid against Majed Turk, an individual employed by the OCDSB. He has been charged with sexual offences in relation to events dating back to July 2013 involving two female students. These are in addition to charges against Mr. Turk announced by police in July.

Immunizations - 2019-2020 School Year

Ottawa Public Health requires proof that your child has received proper immunization. Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, students attending school in Ontario are required to be vaccinated against nine (9) diseases or have a valid exemption. Parents are required to report all immunizations done at the doctor's office to OPH. Under this Act, OPH has the authority to suspend students for whom OPH does not have a record of immunization from attending school.
