Learn at Home and Planning Forward Survey

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board recently launched a survey to gather feedback on the experience of parents/guardians, students and staff with the Learn At Home model that was implemented in March-June 2020. This survey also gave parents/guardians, students and staff an opportunity to share their thoughts on the plans for the next school year.

OCDSB thanks all participants for sharing their thoughts with us and with each other. We have had a tremendous response - 28,119 respondents, including 20,063 parents, 4211 students, 2698 staff and 1147 educators.

We are excited to share the results. There are a couple of ways to look at the results:

Use the Thoughtexchange Discover Dashboard
This summary will include results from the survey questions, as well as themes and examples of what we heard from the open-ended discussion. In the meantime, explore the thoughts from the discussion in the Discover Pages using the links below. A few things to note about navigating the results:

  • The ‘Hot topics’ tab shows the most relevant thoughts that cover some of the major topics that emerged.
  • The ‘All thoughts’ tab ranks all thoughts by average rating.
  • The ‘Your activity’ tab provides a summary of the participant’s activity and how they relate to other participants.

 NEXT STEPS

On July 9, 2020 the Board of Trustees heard from dozens of parents about planning for September. Since then, planning has continued and on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 staff will present an update on planning to the Board of Trustees. This update includes the information that will be shared with the Ministry of Education regarding OCDSB plans for September. The meeting will be livestreamed on the OCDSB YouTube channel starting at 9 PM.

We are expecting additional information from the Ministry of Education in August regarding the school reopening plans and we will be able to provide more details on this topic then.
