Beginning September 8th, 2020, the OCDSB will welcome students back to school via a progressive entry schedule.
The updated Secondary School Program Plan includes the following:
- Quadmester model - Students take period one and three from September to Mid-November and periods two and four from mid-November to the end of January.
- One course/week - Students will take one course every day (with instruction/classwork) for one week and then will take their other course every day the following week.
- Cohorts A and B – Each course will be divided into two cohorts (A and B) with approximately 15 students per cohort.
- A:B:A:B Model - Students attend alternate days by cohort; Cohort A attends Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Tuesday, Thursday and Cohort B attends Tuesday, Thursday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
- Minutes of Instruction - School day is 300 minutes with 225 minutes of in-person instructional time plus a 75-minute study hall.
At-home learning consists of working independently and connecting with teachers during scheduled opportunities. This will include asynchronous and synchronous learning.

Return to School Schedule
Secondary students will begin on September 8th and 9th with orientation for Grade 9 students. On September 10th (Cohort A) and 11th (Cohort B), all students in grades 9 to 12 will attend school in person with their respective cohort. Cohort groupings will be determined and communicated by the school. Students at Sir Guy Carleton and Ottawa Technical High School, Adult High School, Alternate Schools, and Safe Schools classes will follow a modified version of this schedule.
