Classes Take to the Snow for Outdoor Learning

The winter season has provided OCDSB students with many opportunities to learn outdoors. Here are just a few examples of how students are exploring the outdoors, participating in winter sports, and using the snow as a canvas for their creativity.

Staying Warm with Outdoor Exercise

From skating to snow yoga, outdoor exercise is a great way to stay active in the winter. Students at Fallingbrook Community Elementary School and Kanata Highlands Public School went outside to make the most of sunny winter days.

Making Suncatchers and Snow Sculptures

Schoolyards across the OCDSB are sparkling with handmade suncatchers, like this beautiful frozen ornament created by students in the ASD class at Cedarview Middle School. Meanwhile, students at Westwind Public School tried their hand at making snow sculptures.

Learning About Local Wildlife

Students at Rockcliffe Park Public School have been searching through the snow for signs of animals and birds in their community. Here’s some of the wildlife that Mme. Nix’s and Mme Whelan’s classes spotted!
