International & Indigenous Languages
Kindergarten to Grade 8
1 Hour Per Week

International Languages
Grade 9-12 
1.5 Hours Per Week
  •  Focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in target language
  • Students engage in 1 hour of teaching and learning per week.
  • Students receive feedback on their learning and progress.
  • Students will receive a Certificate of Participation at the end of the school year.
  • Educators will work with students and families to ensure that the learning and communication best meets the needs of the students and their family circumstances.
  •  Focus on credit accumulation for any Grade 12 students
  • Students engage in 1.5 hours of teaching and learning per week (Non-Semestered courses)
  • Students will be assigned learning tasks, projects and optional culminating activities that will be marked by their teachers.
  • Students will receive ongoing feedback on their learning and progress.
  • All IIL secondary students have already received their midterm marks and will receive their final report cards at the end of the school year.
  • Educators will work with students and families to ensure that the learning and communication best meets the needs of the student and their family circumstances.

Hours of Instruction

The total amount of 1 hour per week includes the teaching time led by the IILP instructors, as well as the time that students will spend in working on the learning engagements assigned by the instructors. With respect to inclusive practices, instructors will be using methods of communication with parents and students that are equitable and accessible to all.
