Introducing OCV – Ottawa-Carleton Virtual School

The OCDSB is excited to welcome 17,000 students to our new virtual schools – OCV Elementary and OCV Secondary to their first day of school on Friday, September 18th.

Our secondary school will support approximately 4,000 students. OCV Elementary has been divided into six campuses, which allows us to better organize the 13,000 students according to their home school.

We have been working hard to set up the schools, finalize teaching assignments, and complete the scheduling of students into classes. As we begin the new school year, our OCV administrative teams are looking forward to supporting children and families in a seamless transition to remote learning.

Over the past three weeks, we have been working to staff almost 700 positions in our elementary and secondary virtual schools. Staffing for remote learning follows provincial rules for class sizes (you can learn more about the process here). All change requests received by schools after the Confirmation of Attendance deadline are being placed on a waitlist. When the process for considering these requests is complete, parents will be contacted with a decision and/or next steps. Change requests will be reviewed according to available staffing and class size considerations.

Questions? Contact us

Families registered in OCV have received emails from their virtual schools with more information about the start of the school year, and further details are available on the OCV Elementary and OCV Secondary school websites.

Any family with children registered for OCV, but who have not received an email, may want to verify that the home school has the correct contact information on file, particularly if you have moved, changed phone numbers and/or email addresses.

Also, if you are having trouble logging in, have questions about your child’s placement, or did not receive an email, please complete the appropriate form below:

It takes a community to teach our students, find opportunity in challenges, and build the future we need. Our virtual schools are diverse communities of students, educators, and families from across the OCDSB. We are excited to grow our community, and we look forward to offering creative learning opportunities and innovative approaches to help remote learners succeed.
