OCDSB Responds to Allegations at Nepean High School

We have been informed of a series of allegations relating to the school climate at Nepean High School. The allegations span a period of several years and involve both current and former students and staff. The allegations address issues of racism and inappropriate conduct of staff involving students.

Immediately upon becoming aware of the allegations, the OCDSB launched an investigation, which is currently underway. This is being undertaken in accordance with workplace investigation policies, provincial legislation and child protection responsibilities.

As in any investigation, it is important that we allow the investigation to proceed without speculation or rumour. We would ask that anyone who may have information directly related to the investigation to come forward so that the investigation is factually informed.

We recognize our responsibility to ensure a caring and safe school culture which is grounded in respect for each person’s dignity, rights and responsibilities and free from oppression, racism including anti-Indigenous and anti-Black racism, Islamophobia, antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, bias, harassment, discrimination, hate, bullying and relationship-based and other violence. These allegations are a reminder that our work in this area is ongoing and is essential to our commitment to create a culture of caring and social responsibility.
