Join the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority on Sunday, August 26th for School Bus and Pedestrian Safety Day. Future little scholars can check out a school bus and learn the do's and don'ts of bus and pedestrian safety.

Many schools at the District have shown amazing leadership in Environmental Stewardship over the course of the 2017-2018 school year. This year we have 7 additional schools certified under the Ontario EcoSchools program. Bringing us to a total of 51 schools certified! The results are outstanding with 8 schools certifying at the Bronze level, 25 at the Silver level, 15 at the Gold level, and 2 schools at the Platinum level.

The OCDSB is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all students & staff, and will again be participating in the Ottawa Capital Pride Parade. Each year over 100 members of the OCDSB family walk or ride the yellow school bus. Together we demonstrate our commitment to creating safer and more accepting spaces.

The OCDSB announced that Director of Education, Dr. Jennifer Adams will retire from the school district effective December 31, 2018. The Chair of the Board made the announcement at the start of the Board meeting on May 22, 2018.

As you may know, Cannabis or also known as Marijuana will be legalized across Canada. The exact timing will be confirmed by the Government of Canada in 2018. What does this mean for me or my child? Cannabis will have similar rules as alcohol and tobacco in the province, with some differences

Many school communities have questions about how decisions are made regarding the construction of new schools and additions. Ultimately, the Ministry of Education of Ontario makes these decisions through the approval of funding for capital projects - capital in this context referring to the construction of new pupil places.
