Rainbow Youth Forum

Rainbow Youth Forum

The Annual Rainbow Youth Forum (RYF) is a celebration of our diversity and is a day for students and staff to learn together. For 2021, students of all ages attended the virtual event which was held on May 20th from 7:00 p.m to 9:30 p.m

The 16th Annual Rainbow Youth Forum included Decolonizing Gender, Drag Storytime, Workshops for Students and Staff, Chill Zone and a Rainbow Spring Fling Dance! This interactive virtual event allowed participants to ask questions and share their thoughts.

The RYF encourages safe and inclusive school environments by providing an opportunity to enhance knowledge and awareness about equity and diversity issues. The RYF aims to help build knowledge and understanding of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, as well as homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia.

The RYF is held in collaboration between the OCDSB and the Rainbow Service Provider's Network, which is a network of community agencies who promote inclusive services for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Questioning, Two- Spirit (LGBTQ2S+) youth. This collaborative initiative is aligned with our efforts to embed exit outcomes, cultural proficiency,  and character education into our daily practices.
