About LINC and ESL:
The Continuing Education Department offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, and Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) classes for adults in Ottawa. Classes are offered from beginner to advanced levels and help develop skills in reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking, pronunciation, and more. We offer online and in-person LINC classes with free childcare, as well as online and in-person ESL classes.
Registration:
Important: Registration is now closed for our LINC and ESL classes for the current term.
- Summer ESL and LINC classes will start on June 24.
- Limited spots will be available for new clients on our waitlist.
- In-person summer classes will be offered at our Central (with free LINC childcare), East and West locations.
- Waitlisted students will be contacted by staff as soon as a spot is available.
- Fall ESL and LINC classes will start the week of September 9 to 13

To register for our classes, you must have a valid assessment from the YMCA.

Language Assessment for Classes: To register for classes, you must have an up-to-date language assessment or have attended LINC or ESL classes in the past 2 years.
