Hello Students,

As the transportation disruptions continue, we understand the frustrations you and your families are experiencing. We are very sorry that OCDSB families have to go through this. As Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) works towards solutions in the coming weeks, we thank you for your kindness and understanding shown towards school bus drivers and request that everyone continues to do so. Please continue to use the Parent Portal and monitor the route cancellations for up-to-date information.

While we work through this period, schools are working to adjust drop off zones to ensure safety and reduce traffic congestion. We request students driving to school to:

  • Reduce speed near all school zones.
  • Not park in bus lanes, accessible parking spaces or double-park on the street.
  • If possible, park a short distance away.
  • Ride share with other students.
  • Walk to school (See OSTA walk zone maps).

Sending Best Wishes to All Who are Celebrating Rosh Hashanah

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, will begin the evening of September 15th and continue until September 17th. It marks the beginning of the Ten Days of Awe, which will conclude with Yom Kippur. This is an important time of celebration, introspection, and reflection for Jewish families. This year, Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the year 5784. Shanah Tovah to all who will be celebrating this important holiday!

Open Trails Day - Saturday, September 23rd, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The MacSkimming Outdoor Education Centre is having its annual Open Trails Day. Take a hike through the trails and discover the biodiversity of this unique site. This is the only day of this school year when this 425-acre classroom will be open to the public for everyone to explore.

Safe Schools Reporting Tool - An Anonymous Reporting Option for Students

OCDSB’s new Safe Schools Reporting Tool is a private and anonymous way for you to share your concerns. If you are feeling unsafe or worried about a friend or classmate, send an anonymous report through our website. This tool is not a replacement for talking to your teacher or principal. It’s just another way to get help. If it's an emergency or someone is in danger, you should always call 911 immediately.
