Extended Day and Child Care Programs Advisory Committee Seeking Parent Members
Do you have a strong interest in and commitment to public education? Interested in student achievement and well-being? We are seeking 3 parent members to serve on our Advisory Committee for Extended Day and Child Care Programs. The committee meets 3 times a year during the months of September to June.

The Committee works with parents, school councils, and community partners to:
  • guide the development of policy with regard to extended day programming and child care to ensure successful delivery of programming for early learners;
  • establish a forum for stakeholders to collaborate and share experiences across related sectors;
  • be an advocacy voice for excellence in extended day initiatives across the OCDSB; an
  • ensure that the members and representatives have current public information about extended day and child care and full-day kindergarten to communicate to their communities in Ottawa.
  • provide ongoing advice to the Board on the management, delivery and implementation of the extended day and child care programs;
The committee will be comprised of the following voting members: five (5) parent members; and four (4) representatives from other advisory committees.  Non-voting Members will include: one (1) representative from the Child Care Council; three (3) third party partners; one (1) Trustee; and one (1) Superintendent of Instruction or designate.  The term of office for voting members shall be two (2) years and begin on 01 December.

Candidate Eligibility:
  • Parent Members must have a strong interest in and commitment to public education, student achievement and well-being and be able to represent the views of a wide variety of parents
  • Parent Members must be a parent of an elementary student in the OCDSB;
  • Parent Members must have knowledge, skills and/or  experience in the ONE or more of the following areas: public education; community engagement; child care; equity and inclusion strategies; and public policy and/or communications; and
  • Parent Members must be willing to serve for a two (2) year term.
