OCDSB Kicks Off United Way Campaign

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) kicked off its annual United Way campaign to raise funds for community initiatives to combat poverty, support youth and help people overcome challenges across the region.

The campaign runs from October 16 until November 30, 2019. OCDSB employees will engage in fundraising events and be offered the opportunity to donate to the United Way or the registered charity of their choice through payroll deductions.

United Way East Ontario works with communities in Prescott-Russell, Ottawa, Lanark and Renfrew counties.

Last year, the OCDSB and its employees contributed more than $100,000 through this campaign. For example, funds raised supported vital programs and initiatives that helped at-risk children start school ready to learn and have a safe place to go after school to learn new skills.

The OCDSB is committed to building a culture of caring. Beyond the direct impact of supporting United Way’s programs, engaging with this campaign also provides an opportunity to teach students on the importance of philanthropy and giving back to their community.
