OCDSB Privacy Week 2018

November 11th to 17th is Privacy Week at the OCDSB. This is a chance to reflect on professional practice and to think about how we manage information and privacy. The OCDSB is committed to the careful management of personal information and protection of privacy. The school district collects, uses, retains and discloses personal information in the course of meeting its statutory duties and responsibilities. All employees are responsible for the protection of personal, confidential, and sensitive information entrusted to them.

How can I protect privacy?

There are many things you can do to protect your privacy and the privacy of others.  That means collecting, storing and sharing personal information with care. For example:

  • store information securely;
  • use strong passwords;
  • be careful when sharing or distributing information to students or other staff;
  • collect only the information needed;
  • use the information only for the purpose for which it was collected;
  • manage digital information and use the privacy settings;
  • if you suspect a privacy breach, report it!
