2024 Valuing Voices: Identity Matters Student Survey

2024 Valuing Voices: Identity Matters Student Survey
Posted on 03/25/2024

In April, the OCDSB will be launching our 2024 Valuing Voices: Identity Matters Student Survey. This voluntary and confidential survey will be used to collect information about our student population and their experiences at school. The data collected will help to address issues affecting students, including bullying, safety, mental health, learning and student achievement.

The survey will have two parts:

  • Demographic data: Including questions about language, Indigenous identity, ethnicity, race, faith/creed, gender, sexual orientation, and ability.
  • School climate data: Including questions about feelings of safety, engagement and well-being.

Who can complete the survey?

  • Parents/caregivers of students in Kindergarten through grade 6 are asked to complete one survey per child.
  • Students in grades 7-12 can complete the survey during class time at school.
  • Participation is voluntary and confidential.
  • Surveys will be available in multiple languages.

More detailed information was shared with all parents and caregivers on March 22nd. The survey will be open from April 11-May 10, 2024. More information can be found on our website: ocdsb.ca/studentsurvey

Your help is needed

This is a significant survey that will have a real impact on our schools. Your help makes a difference. Help spread the word about the value of all families completing the survey. This will help to ensure that the voices of all students are included as we plan meaningful next steps to make our schools better for everyone.

We have shared a  collection of resources you can use to highlight the survey on your school council social media channels. It would be great if you could remind parents/caregivers to complete the survey and direct them to our website if they have questions or need clarification.
