An Update on PRO Grants

An Update on PRO Grants
Posted on 02/06/2024

We are thrilled to share that the Parent Reaching Out (PRO) Grants application and distribution is complete. This marks a significant milestone as 87% of eligible School Councils within the OCDSB have received funding, each receiving up to $750.

These grants support projects addressing local barriers hindering parental engagement.  Now that the funds are in place, School Councils across the OCDSB are gearing up to initiate various impactful projects and events.

Aligned with the key focus areas identified by the PRO Grants, these initiatives will cover a spectrum of activities, including workshops promoting equity and inclusivity, awareness campaigns focusing on mental health and well-being, and projects dedicated to creating safe and inclusive spaces within our school communities.

Furthermore, the funds will support programs promoting food sovereignty, educational initiatives on human rights, and projects involving parents in early literacy and numeracy programs. The diversity of these initiatives reflects the commitment of our School Councils to foster parental engagement and overcome local barriers.

We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of these projects on creating a more inclusive, engaged, and vibrant educational environment within the OCDSB. Kudos to all School Councils for their dedication and creativity in utilizing the PRO Grants to bring about positive change.
