$2 can be the difference between nothing and something.

Our Toonie Tuesday campaign has kicked off, and we’re ready to make 2024 our best year yet!

On the last Tuesday in February, we all come together to support students in need within the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. But you don’t have to wait until February 27th to donate. You can donate right here, right now!

Did you know that requests for support have increased by 35%? Ottawa families need our help!

Every dollar raised will support students’ access to food, clothing, and meaningful activities. You can invest in a student’s potential! Let’s unite to make a difference!

At the Education Foundation of Ottawa, we believe every student deserves the tools they need to succeed. That’s why we’re here. Our mission is to reduce barriers to student learning by working with families, school staff, donors, and community organizations to ensure all students can learn confidently. This starts by providing students with not only what they require, but also what they deserve!

We pride ourselves on our core values:

  • RESPECT – We uphold the dignity of students.
  • COMPASSION – We demonstrate care for students’ well being and sense of belonging.
  • INTEGRITY – We are financially and administratively accountable.
  • IMPACT – We make a positive difference for students.

The challenges students face are most likely, and often, out of their control. They shouldn’t have to feel the impact of life’s circumstances. Thank you to the Principals, Vice-Principals, and school Social Workers who submit requests for support on the behalf of OCDSB families - the Education Foundation of Ottawa is here to help; but we can’t do it alone.

Here’s how you can commit to create impact in the life of an OCDSB student:

  • Make a one-time or monthly donation to our Toonie Tuesday campaign online and receive your charitable tax receipt right away by email!
  • School Councils can help support this important initiative by spreading the word and hosting fundraising activities. Here are a few ideas:
  • Hold an event, contest, sale/auction, or other fundraising initiative to spread the word and encourage families in your school community to participate.
  • Follow EFO on Facebook and Twitter, and share about Toonie Tuesday on your School council social media accounts.
  • Share information about Toonie Tuesday at your next School Council meeting.
  • Encourage participation from local businesses. Are you, or do you know, a business owner who would like to participate? Businesses can choose an item where $2 or 2% of every sale goes to our Toonie Tuesday Campaign! If you know someone who would be interested in investing in the lives of deserving youth, please introduce us by putting us in touch with a local business or community trailblazer!

With almost 10,000 staff, over 75,000 students, and 149 sites, imagine what we could do if everyone gave $2 (or more) on Toonie Tuesday!

Your donations help us say “YES” when we receive requests for support.
