Program Services

Program Services plays a key role in supporting student learning across the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB). The department is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring a variety of K-12 and 12+ educational programs and initiatives in all curricular areas. It is made up of seconded academic staff, including principals and teachers who serve as instructional coaches in schools, along with administrative support staff.

The main responsibilities of Program Services include:

  • Curriculum Implementation and Evaluation: Program Services ensures that the curriculum in all subject areas is effectively taught. This includes providing professional development for teachers and staff to help them stay up-to-date with new curriculum changes and strategies and monitoring how well the curriculum is being implemented in schools and the impact it is having on student learning.
  • Program/Initiative Development and Evaluation: The department creates and rolls out new programs and initiatives to improve literacy, numeracy, and other key areas of student development, supporting both staff and students in the learning process. Program Services also tracks the success of these programs and initiatives to make sure they are effective in improving student outcomes.
  • Educational Resources: The department provides teachers and students with a variety of resources—such as books, digital tools, and other instructional materials—to support learning in the classroom.
  • Student Achievement: Program Services monitors student progress and offers support to schools to help improve student achievement and support student wellbeing.
  • Equity and Inclusion: The department is committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Through these efforts, Program Services helps to ensure that OCDSB students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for success in the modern world.
