What We Offer

We are a leading employer in Ottawa and want to attract the best talent from across Canada. We offer staff competitive salaries, a robust family and employee assistance program, and a generous benefits and sick leave package, including access to an excellent pension for full-time employees.

Ottawa is more affordable than other large cities in Canada. It also offers shorter commutes, access to great recreation facilities, top-notch universities and colleges, public transportation, hospitals, and beautiful nature parks only a short drive or cycle away (not to mention fantastic English public schools led by incredible staff across the city).

Live and Work in Ottawa

Your identity matters. Your race, gender, who you love, ability, faith or creed. It’s an important part of who you are and what you can offer.

We are on a journey to strengthen the diversity of our workforce. We want to see more staff of equity-deserving groups succeed, grow and become future leaders.

Building a Diverse Workforce

The OCDSB offers many opportunities for mentoring whether it be for practicum or placement students gaining valuable experience throughout the District, as a new teacher as part of the New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP), through our various Leadership Development sessions, or as a new Principal or Vice-Principal as part of the Principal / Vice-Principal Academy. With so many experienced staff members at the OCDSB, there are many ways to take advantage of mentoring opportunities either formally or informally.

Leadership and Growth at the OCDSB

Learning French is important to many families in our school district. We offer fully bilingual Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten programs, and the majority of our elementary students attend French immersion programs. As a French teacher at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, you can live and work in a city where bilingualism really matters. Find out more here.

Working at the OCDSB - Staff Perspectives

Ioanna, Early Learning Assistant

Ioanna, Early Learning Assistant

I have been an Early Learning Assistant (ELA) with the OCDSB for 10 years. Working for the Extended Day Program is a significantly rewarding job. It is a joy to see the progress of students, knowing you played a positive role in their development. I have benefited professionally and personally from courses offered in personal well being and educational excellence. I have also enjoyed working with a team of supportive and cooperative educational staff, and I have made life long friends.
