About International & Indigenous Languages
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board offers Elementary and Secondary International & Indigenous Languages (IIL) Program through the Continuing Education Department. The IIL Program is mandated under the Ministry of Education. The IILP delivers the In-Service training courses to the instructors and teachers and other professional development opportunities to staff every year.
The Board works in partnership with various communities in order to provide high-quality instruction in non-official languages. Communities and Community Representatives for each language provide an essential cultural link to the program. They may provide assistance with the curriculum development and advocacy for the program.
