Mary Jane Farrish

Superintendent of Education (East)

As a Superintendent of Education, Mary Jane Farrish oversees support and supervision for Kindergarten to Grade 12 schools in Eastern Ottawa. She leads the OCDSB's Equity division focused on supporting learning conditions and outcomes. In collaboration with departments across the OCDSB she supports district commitments in the Strategic Plan, Accessibility Plan, Board Improvement Plan for student achievement and well-being, and ensures that the OCDSB’s Indigenous, Equity and Human Rights Roadmap milestones are being met.

Mary Jane has elementary and secondary teaching and administration experience in the Peel District School Board and Halton District School Board, where she was the administrator lead for Equity and Inclusive Education. She is currently a Facilitator for the Supervisory Officers Qualification Program and a mentor for newly appointed supervisory officers with the Ontario Public Supervisory Officer’s Association. 

Her previous leadership for Safe and Caring Schools continues to guide her supervision and support for schools to implement bias-free progressive discipline decisions, actions and restorative practices with leaders.

In all of her work she prioritizes collaboration with school communities and partner agencies to support students and families in achieving their potential.
