Kristin Riddell

Superintendent of Education (South-East)

Kristin Riddell is a dedicated Superintendent of Education with 28 years of experience in education. In her current role, she supports 25 schools and oversees diverse portfolios, including Indigenous Education, Secondary Operations, and Environmental Education. Kristin has led many initiatives that foster student wellness and achievement, such as Spark and National Capital History Day. She has also led significant system-wide efforts in assessment and evaluation and destreaming, demonstrating her commitment to creating equitable learning environments. As the Superintendent of Indigenous Education, Kristin works closely with staff and community partners to promote cultural awareness and support for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students, a crucial part of the board's commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action.

In her roles as a Superintendent across two districts, Kristin has overseen a wide array of portfolios. These include Program Services, Student Success Initiatives (such as Co-Op, Dual Credits, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, Specialist High Skills Major, School-College-Work Initiative, and Children and Youth in Care), Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting for Grades 7-12, Programming for Grades 7-12, Math Lead, Secondary Athletics, English and French as a Second Language, Environmental Education and Sustainability, and International Education. Prior to becoming a Superintendent, she served as a System Principal in Program and Learning at the OCDSB, building on her experience as a teacher, department head, vice-principal, and principal.

Throughout her career, Kristin has collaborated with teams at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa. She is deeply passionate about her work, driven by a core belief in focusing on every student and staff member. This is achieved through committed and devoted pursuits of supportive relationships, setting clear instructional directions, and building a shared vision of learning, achievement, and wellness. She is committed to ensuring every student, family, and staff member can reach their goals and be successful, and she has consistently worked with all stakeholders to foster innovation in education. Kristin firmly believes that every student deserves an education that promotes equity, inclusion, and a high level of achievement.
