Superintendent of Education (West)
Amy is a passionate, multilingual, and relational leader with more than two decades of dedicated service to the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. Her extensive 23-year career has seen her take on a wide range of roles, including teacher, instructional coach, and System Principal of Learning Support Services. With 12 years of experience as an administrator, Amy has consistently championed the development of safe, equitable, and inclusive learning environments. She has also leveraged her expertise in international education to build diplomatic relations and create global partnerships that have enriched opportunities for students, staff, and the organization.
During her six-year tenure as the System Principal of Learning Support Services, Amy was responsible for overseeing all special education supports and services for the District. Under her leadership, central teams of educators supported the District to ensure that each student had access to a personalized, nurturing, and strengths-based approach to their education.
Amy's leadership is built on a foundation of strong relationships and effective communication. Leveraging her expertise in educational law, special education, and restorative practices, she works collaboratively and respectfully with a variety of stakeholders. She is committed to actively seeking out and hearing all voices—especially those that have been marginalized—to remove barriers and promote a sense of belonging for everyone.
Amy’s varied experiences and strong commitment to developing others and improving student well-being have prepared her for the role of Superintendent of Instruction. She is driven by a mission to champion the advancement of strong, personalized instructional programs while honoring the individual human rights of all learners, staff, and community members.
