Technological Education

Technological Education courses offer secondary school students the opportunity to apply theory and knoweldge to hands on projects and gain practical skills that have direct links to a wide range of post-secondary and school-to-work programs. There are a wide range of programs available, from computer technology to hair styling and aesthetics.

Course Codes and Course Descriptions:

TAS10/20 - Technology and the Skilled Trades
This hands-on course enables students to further explore the engineering design process and develop other technological knowledge and skills introduced in earlier grades.

TGJ - Communications Technology
This course examines communications technology from a media perspective. Students will develop knowledge and skills as they design and produce media projects in areas of live, recorded, and graphic communications.

TCJ/TWJ - Construction Technology/Custom Woodworking
This course focuses on the development of knowledge and skills related to residential construction. This course enables students to develop knowledge and skills related to cabinet making and furniture making.

THJ - Green Industries
This course enables students to develop knowledge and skills related to agriculture, floristry, forestry, horticulture, and landscaping.

TXJ - Hairstyling and Aesthetics
This course enables students to develop knowledge and skills in cosmetology and offers a variety of applications that will equip students to provide services for a diverse clientele.

TPJ - Health Care
This course focuses on the development of a range of skills needed to analyze and interpret clinical findings.

TFJ - Hospitality and Tourism
This course enables students to further develop knowledge and skills related to the various sectors of the tourism industry.

TDJ - Technological Design
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of design advocacy and marketing, while building on their design skills and their knowledge of professional design practices.

TEJ - Computer Engineering Technology
This course extends students' understanding of computer systems and computer interfacing with external devices.

TMJ - Manufacturing Engineering Technology
This course enables students to further develop knowledge and skills related to design, process planning, control systems, project management, quality assurance, and business operations.

TTJ - Transportation Technology
This course enables students to further develop technical knowledge and skills as they study, test, service, and repair engine management systems; powertrains; steering/control, suspension, brake and body systems on vehicles, aircraft.
