The students of the OCDSB 2SLGBTQ+ Voices: Pathways Program annually present the Rainbow Youth Forum (RYF). The RYF aims to help build knowledge and understanding of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. Additionally, the RYF gives students the platform to share how teachers, parents, and other community members can challenge & disrupt homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia in order to better serve their needs.
The event is open to all 2SLGBTQ+ OCDSB students and allies, as well as OCDSB staff. The OCDSB also invites, local organizations that support the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Students and educators attend fantastic events, and learn from student-led and student-focused workshops. Ultimately, the Rainbow Youth Forum is a day of celebration with opportunities to connect and build community.
The event is an important part of building safe and inclusive school environments by providing an opportunity to enhance knowledge and awareness about equity and diversity issues.
