Fantastic Fundraisers at Shingwàkons Public School Spread Warmth and Community Spirit

Shingwàkons Public Schools buzzed with excitement and generosity throughout February as students and staff came together for two heartwarming fundraising campaigns that exemplified the school's commitment to community support.

The annual Education Foundation of Ottawa’s ‘Toonie Tuesday’ initiative, a beloved tradition at Shingwàkons, once again proved a resounding success. This year, the school aimed to raise funds to support local community initiatives. Students enthusiastically contributed toonies, with each donation earning them a chance to participate in a thrilling ‘Dunk-an-Educator’ draw.

The school's stage was transformed into a splash zone, featuring kiddie pools and brave educators who volunteered to take the plunge. The energy was electric as classes gathered to witness their classmates' winning dunks, resulting in laughter and cheers echoing through the gym.

The final tally for ‘Toonie Tuesday’ was an impressive $1000.00, a testament to the students' dedication and the school's collective spirit.

"Simultaneously, Shingwàkons Public School ran its ‘Cereal Box Domino Challenge’ in support of the Stittsville Food Bank. This unique campaign encouraged students to bring in boxes of cereal, which were then meticulously lined up in the school hallway, creating a massive domino chain. The excitement grew as the boxes accumulated, culminating in a spectacular domino effect that captivated the entire school."

The ‘Cereal Box Domino Challenge’ not only provided a fun and engaging activity but also addressed a critical need in the community. The students' generosity resulted in a collection of 332 cereal boxes, which will provide much-needed nourishment to families relying on the Stittsville Food Bank.

We are incredibly proud of Shingwàkons’ students and staff for their remarkable efforts in these fundraising campaigns. Their enthusiasm and dedication to supporting the community is truly inspiring.
